Job Summary

Extent Corporate Advisory is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will be an admitted advocate with 2–3 years of post-admission experience in a law firm setting, with demonstrable expertise in both corporate and intellectual property law.

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal advisory services on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including entity formation, restructurings, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and governance compliance.

● Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including commercial contracts, shareholder agreements, IP-related agreements (e.g., assignments and licenses).

● Conduct legal due diligence for corporate transactions and intellectual property portfolios.

● Advise clients on regulatory compliance across corporate and IP frameworks, including brand protection strategies and legal risk management.

● Manage IP registration processes, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents, at national and regional levels.

● Represent clients in corporate and IP-related disputes, oppositions, and enforcement matters.

● Support the commercialization of intellectual property through licensing, franchising, and related legal structures.

● Monitor developments in corporate, commercial, and IP law to ensure clients remain compliant and competitive.

● Work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver practical, innovative legal solutions aligned with business goals.

● Contribute to business development, knowledge sharing, and client education on corporate and IP matters.

Qualifications

Admitted Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania (Zanzibar admission is an added advantage).

● 2–3 years of post-admission experience in a reputable law firm, with active involvement in both corporate and IP matters.

● Excellent legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills.

● Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.

● High level of initiative, adaptability, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and commitment to client service.

● Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
