International Trademark Association (INTA) 2022 Annual Meeting
Our Partner and Head of Intellectual Property Nalley Jummane represented ECA at the INTA 2022 Annual Meeting, participating in high-level discussions on global trademark trends, networking with IP leaders from around the world, and bringing back cutting-edge insights to enhance our service delivery.
Purpose
To represent ECA at the premier global trademark event, stay updated on international best practices in trademark law, and connect with IP professionals worldwide. The meeting served as a platform to enhance our knowledge, showcase our African IP expertise, and build relationships that benefit our clients.
What the Team Learnt
We gained insights into post-pandemic changes in trademark practice, learned about new challenges in online brand protection, and discovered innovative approaches to trademark portfolio management. The team also learned about emerging issues in geographical indications and the growing importance of sustainability in branding.

The China Trademark Festival was held in Changsha, China this year. The theme was "One Belt One Road," focusing on international trademark cooperation and the development of IP protection along trade routes connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
